The innovative patented technology ensures that water is only dispensed once it has reached boiling point, not simply very warm, but 100 degrees Celsius, making perfect hot drinks every time. In addition, the smooth and continuous flow of water keeps any splashing to a minimum.

By only boiling enough water for the number of cups you need, the Breville Hot Cup with Variable Dispense - VKJ318 is economical and energy efficient. There's no boiled water going to waste and it helps you save pennies on electricity bills.

Supersize or downsize your cup with the Variable Dispense

Like your cup of tea a little on the large side? Or just looking for a small slurp of coffee to get you going in the morning? Unique to this Breville Hot Cup - VKJ318 model is the Variable Dispense control. This feature allows you to choose from nine different sizes of cup, so there's no need to half-fill a large cup or overspill with a small one.
Simply select the amount of water you require with the Variable Dispense dial located on the top of the unit. Adjust the dial to your chosen setting. For smaller amounts set the dial towards the tea cup icon--the smallest available, and for larger amounts set towards the mug icon--the largest available. If unsure about which setting to use, use a lower setting until you get a better understanding of the amounts.

Manual Stop helps you take control

Providing you with further control is the Manual Stop function. This enables you to interrupt and halt progress at any stage. If you've decided you don't fancy a cuppa after all, press the button immediately to stop the boil sequence. Or even later in the cycle, press it to stop water that is being dispensed. The Manual Stop means you can pour just as much as you want and don't have to worry about overflowing.

The Breville Hot Cup with Variable Dispense - VKJ318 features a fast boil 3 kilowatt (kW) concealed element which delivers maximum efficiency and keeps the water tank easy to clean. The large 2 litre (l) capacity water tank is also easy to fill thanks to its lid release button. Press the button down to open and then fill the water tank with fresh, cold water just like you would a kettle.
The extra-large rear water window helps you accurately fill the water tank and once filled, you can place it back on the base facing any angle as it's 360 degree (°) rotational. This means you don't have to line it up in a certain place to function.

Excelent product, knocks the Tefal into a cocked hat,proper hot cup of tea everytime. Only would comment if you have weak wrists watch it cos its heavy when full.

this has been a great item for our busy house, i have now put the kettle away as it hasnt been used for 3 months. our first one was faulty (just a sticky lid, wasnt electrical) but amazon replaced it immediately. we havent had any problems with the replacement. its quick and so easy to use, we need the variable water control as i love big mugs and my husband often drinks smaller cups. its also ideal if you have babies (we have twins) as you can have water to warm bottles up in seconds.
initially i thought this was really aimed at single people not big families but we have four children and alot of visitors and builders in and out of the house and i havent had to resort to the kettle once since we bought the hot cup.

A very effective, simple and practical device which does exactly what we need it to do, at least for making hot drinks. Early days yet of course, having only had it for less than a week, but I expect it to pay for itself within a year.

This is a good looking piece of kit, boils quickly for mugs/cups of hot water.
However, as a busy mother/homemaker I quickly realized for the many other uses for a kettle you should bear in mind that the maximum amount possible is about a large mug, so needing to boil water for stock for soups or casseroles and other situations around the house, then this is not ideal. Having said that, we boil water mostly for hot drinks in this house so I am still very pleased with it, for the environmental impact and for the short time it takes to make a drink.
Its not any noisier than a kettle.

I bought one from amazon a couple of months ago.it was great.my 28 year old son loves it so do i.unfortunely the lid would not stay down.so i contacted amazon by email.they came and collected the faulty one and replaced it at the same time with a new one.the service was brilliant.i use it for every thing not just hot drinks.i bought the variable one so i could use larger amount of water for gravys and instant custard.mine is in use every day all day.thats why i had a replacement and not my money back,we cant live without it now.dont hesitate to buy it,just do it.weldone the ammazon team.
